Pilates After Physical Therapy in Hollywood, FL

2 min read

When physical therapy wraps up, a lot of people in Hollywood, FL ask what comes next. At Lighthouse Pilates & PT, the answer can be reformer Pilates, in the same studio, which is led by Dr. Mary, a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

The weeks after your last PT visit

Physical therapy usually ends with a home exercise program. Some people keep it going for months. For others it slips once the appointments stop, because exercising alone at home is easy to put off and nobody is there to check your form.

Pilates gives that work a set time on your calendar. You book a class, you show up, and an instructor watches how you move and adjusts as you go. With six people at most in a class, your instructor has time to do that for everyone.

How PT and Pilates fit together here

Because Dr. Mary leads both the physical therapy and the Pilates, her PT patients can move into Pilates classes when they're ready, and Pilates clients have physical therapy under the same roof if they ever need it.

Some people do the two one after the other. Others keep an occasional PT visit on the calendar while they take classes. Both work, and you can change the mix as you go. If you're still deciding which one to start with, our post Pilates or Physical Therapy: Which One Do You Need Right Now? walks through it.

Which class to start with

If you're new to the reformer, Level 1 is built for you. It covers the basics of the reformer and chair at a steady pace.

If you'd like more individual attention first, a private session is one on one with Dr. Mary. Some people start with a few privates and then join a group class.

If you've done Pilates before, All Levels or Core Elements (reformer, chair and mat in one class) may be the better fit. Call or text us and we'll help you choose.

Did PT somewhere else?

You don't need to have done physical therapy with us to start Pilates here. Wherever you did your PT, tell us a little about where you are now when you book, and we'll suggest a class.
