Frequently Asked Questions
What is Lighthouse Pilates & Physical Therapy?
We're a small Pilates studio and physical therapy practice in Hollywood, FL, owned by Dr. Mary, a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We teach group reformer and chair classes from beginner through advanced, along with private sessions and physical therapy, all in the same studio.

Is it a Pilates studio or a physical therapy practice?
Both. Most people come to us for Pilates classes, and some come for physical therapy after an injury or surgery. Plenty of clients do both, one after the other or at the same time. Since Dr. Mary programs the classes and also treats our physical therapy clients, the two work together easily.

I've never done Pilates. Where do I start?
Most new clients start in Level 1, where you learn the reformer and chair basics in a class of no more than six people. New clients also start with a short assessment so we can match you to the right class. If you're not sure what to book, call or text (954) 228-5790 and we'll help you pick.

I already do Pilates. Do you have harder classes?
Yes. Level 2 & 3 is our advanced reformer and chair class for people who know the equipment well. Sculpt Lab adds free-weight strength training to reformer and chair work. If you've done a lot of Pilates at another studio, you don't have to start at the beginning.

How big are the classes?
Every group class is capped at six people, so your instructor can watch your form and adjust anything that isn't right for your body.

Who teaches the classes?
Dr. Mary is our main instructor and programs every class on the schedule.

Do you offer private sessions?
Yes. Privates are one on one, and duets are the same kind of session shared by two people, which brings the cost per person down. Both are booked by appointment and can use the reformer, chair, mat and Cadillac.

What does physical therapy look like here?
Dr. Mary works with people recovering from surgery or an injury, and also does full-body assessments for people who want to stay ahead of one. Physical therapy is self-pay only, so we don't bill insurance.

Do I need a referral for physical therapy?
No. You can book a physical therapy evaluation directly.

Can Pilates help with back pain?
Pilates builds strength and control through your core and back, and in a class of six the instructor can modify anything that bothers you. If your back needs treatment before classes, Dr. Mary can see you for physical therapy here first.

Do you work with new moms?
Yes. Postpartum clients often start with private sessions to rebuild a foundation, then move into group classes when they're ready.

Do you have a deal for new clients?
Yes. The New Client Special page has three starter options: 2 classes for $45 (valid for two weeks), New Client Four for $95, and three private Pilates sessions for $240 (each valid for one month).

How much does it cost?
You'll find our current class packs, privates and duets on the Plans & Pricing page. Physical therapy is self-pay.
