About The Owner
The doors of Lighthouse Pilates and Physical Therapy were opened in 2021 out of a passion for improving one's own physical health via physical therapy and the foundational exercises of Pilates. Dr. Mary Ebanks-Nunaihed, founded the unique establishment to service those who desire to enhance their physical state while also being educated in the process.
Education & Specialties
Dr. Mary Ebanks-Nunaihed earned her clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2011. She graduated with Advanced Manual Training, evaluating and treating the spine, joints, extremities, and soft tissue.
Physical Therapy Experience
Mary has gained extensive experience during her years of practice, treating patients of all ages who present with various surgical and non-surgical orthopedic conditions, as well as neurological conditions. In addition, she has completed certifications and attends pertinent continuing education courses that increase her knowledge and clinical skill set.
Pilates Certification & Fitness
Mary is also a National Pilates Certified Teacher (NPCT) and received her training through Core Advancement at Pilates in the Grove. She began her career in the Health and Fitness industry in 1990 when she was hired as a fitness professional at the world-renowned Spa At Doral Resort. During that time, Mary instructed various exercise classes, gave lectures regarding topics of health and wellness, as well as being a personal trainer to VIP’s and celebrities.
Passion & Goals
Mary’s desire to help people achieve their goals of well-being is what inspired her to become a physical therapist. She is passionate about helping her patients/clients achieve their goals, whether it be to improve level of function post-injury and/or surgery, improve core and postural stability to prevent injury, or re-educate muscles due to poor mechanics and/or injury. She views every patient case as unique and provides individualized, one-on-one care to ensure the best possible outcome.
